Short vacation in Chicago

Hello everyone,

We went on a short vacation to Chicago to celebrate our 1st Wedding anniversary. Chicago is a beautiful city and I have always wanted to go there. Since we were only there for 3 days we could just see major attractions around the downtown area. We had ordered “City pass” tickets and booked open bus tours before hand so we just sticked to places that it covered.

The Beautiful City

Our first spot had to be the  “Millennium Park”  as I was looking forward to see the ‘cloud gate’ and definitely wanted to do it first. It’s an amazing sculpture,so polished, so unique!! Truly amazing.

We spent a lot of time looking at this sculpture, taking a lot of pictures and then strolled around the Millennium Park for a while and headed for the water tour of the city and to the Michigan lake. I was constantly asking my husband if that was really a lake ? It is so so vast with huge waves. It was a good tour and we were able to get a good view of the beautiful buildings. Later we walked down the Michigan Avenue to see the gigantic Marilyn Monroe statue which is pretty amazing too.Another interesting thing to do in Chicago is to go up to the Willis tower and step out onto the sky ledge.

You have to get a picture in front of this statue, don’t you?

Next day we did the Hancock tower, spent some time on top of the building. Took the bus tour to explore more of the city. We spent the evening at the Navy pier and took a ride on the Ferri’s wheel. That was indeed  a lovely evening.

The next day we went to the Alder Planetarium, the Field Museum and another bus tour of the city. We wanted to complete the trip by visiting the Buckingham Fountains but that was closed that evening. Never mind, had a beautiful vacation and I am thankful to my husband for arranging it.
