A dress up party for your little one-Birthday series

We all know that kids love to be pampered especially the little girls, they love copying their mommy. I saw my little girl trying to apply lipsticks and showing interest in other beauty stuff. When I put on my lipstick, she wants a little bit of it too so, I just bend down to her and pretend as if I am applying it on her lips. The look on her face!! It’s priceless. She feels so happy and proud of having worn what mommy has too.

It was then, when I was planning my little girl’s second birthday I thought of having a pampering session for her as a Birthday fun event. I definitely didn’t want to use make up on a 2 year old, but I thought there might be something I could use so that she gets the same feel.

Before the cake cutting I made her sit on a comfy chair to make a salon like effect and she loved to be sitting like a princess.

So here is what I did,

Clean Up:

We started off with washing her face with the regular soap and had her dry the face with a brand new towel.Toddlers get excited when they see new things.

Moisturize:

Following the routine here,by moisturizing the body and face with a little extra care .

Detangle & Comb:

This is not something she loves,so I had to distract her to get the job done and a box full of hair ties in front of her did the job.I don’t use any detangling spray on her hair, if at all I need something that would be Sweet almond oil.Alright, now the hair is all tied up in a hair tie.

Painting the nails:

Baby/toddler hands are so cute. I just love her tiny little hands. She was constantly asking me to paint her nails when she saw my colourful nails. Any concerned mother would not use the regular nail polish knowing the amount of chemical substances it is made of. So searching for non-toxic nail polish yielded a few options for kids ,

1.Piggy paint

2.Hopscotch Kids.

3.Honeybee gardens

4. Priti NYC

There are a few others too and they claim to be water based nail polish.I chose the Hopscotch kids water colour in the color matching her dress. The nail painting session was the highlight of the day.It made her so happy that I cannot express it in words. She was very proud of her painted nails that she showed it to everyone we met the next day.

Puff it up:

Like mommy applies make-up powder she gets the baby dusting powder for her body.I used a powder puff from The Body shop and this puff is really soft and perfect to be used on babies/toddlers.

Don’t forget the lips:

Applying lipstick is the favourite of all and I would definitely not have missed it.I grabbed a lip balm(it says its all natural) from local Whole foods store the other day and we used it as a pretend lipstick for the little one.I was looking for a natural lip balm with some colour to it ,but couldn’t find one. So,it was just a regular lip balm for the pretty little lips.

The perfect dress and shoes:

I chose a beautiful blue tulle dress with sequinned top and matching moccasins for her birthday.

Accessories:

A dress up party is incomplete without putting on the accessories.Crowned her pigtail with a matching bow and for the necklace she wore this beautiful pearl necklace that I made for her to go with the dress.

Perfume:

The little ones know the routine well and they don’t forget a single step. There have been times when I forget to put on the perfume but she won’t forget. She makes sure that I wear some and put some on her too.I used a little perfume sample so that I won’t accidentally put too much on her.

And now, Viola!! Our little princess is all dressed up and ready to cut the cake!!

It was so much fun to do it this way, by taking care of each and every detail and making her feel special every moment.I am glad that I could do this for my daughter. She loved it 🙂
