Weekend Getaway- San Francisco Zoo

SanFranciscoPost5Hello Everyone,

It was yet another weekend and we chose to go to the zoo this past weekend. The toddler had read some books about animals and when we asked her if she wanted to go & visit the zoo she was more than excited. It was a calm, cloudy morning and it is just 45 minutes drive from where we live. The zoo wasn’t crowded so, it was even more enjoyable. SanFranciscoPost2

San Francisco zoo is quite small compared to the one in San Diego. So, we finished almost half the attractions during the first half of the day and then sat for a quiet lunch at the Leaping Lemur Cafe. The food was good, they had quiet a few options to choose from. While getting lunch from home would have been cheaper, the comfort of just walking into the cafe and having yummy hot food is more exciting.

And as far as the animals go,there were beautiful Giraffes and zebras.Peacocks crossed roads with us 🙂 When we reached the snow leopard area the zoo volunteer had just placed food for him and we got to see how he sensed the smell and found every piece of food.

SanFranciscoPost4Grizzly bears were fun to watch. One of them sitting close to the glass in the viewing area and all kids felt they were up close to the bear. Tigers and some other animals were all asleep. There was this pool that had penguins,a lot of them and my daughter thought they were funny and enjoyed watching them interact with each other. This was the best part of the zoo for her. Oh no! There is something else that was the best part, the children’s playground. It was marvelous. They had three areas, one for the littlest visitors like baby play area. There was another one which looked like snow structure with slides and sliding tunnels. One more was like a tree house where children were little monkeys climbing, running and sliding.

“It is so much fun !! “, my daughter kept saying all the time we were there.

They also have a little area with structures of some kinds of sea creature and animals. This is a brilliant idea!! It helps children get up close, touch and feel the creatures.

All in all it was a fun day!!
