Strawberry picking is my favorite thing to do when summer comes around. After looking at couple of options in and around the bay area we finally decided on the Crystal bay farm in Watsonville,CA. We arrived at the farm at around 11.00 AM on a Saturday and thought it was late and the place might be already crowded. We were surprised to see there were only a couple of other families picking up strawberries. It’s always the best to be somewhere before the crowd hits. It was a cloudy day and the winds made us feel so cold, luckily we had our jackets.
Our little girl picked up a few strawberries and soon was distracted by the farm animals there. They had a horse right by the strawberry fields and she spent the whole time looking at them all.So, I had the strawberry picking activity to myself and I must say they had the prettiest red ones out there. The fields seemed small if there was a huge crowd . They also had raspberries but we just sticked to picking the strawberries.Perfect place to spend the time on a weekend and you can come home with bag full of fresh , sweet organic strawberries.
Their website said they offered U-pick flowers but the person who worked there said they were out of all the u-pick flowers at the time so, we just bought the strawberries home.They also accept credit cards which always a plus for us.
We just walked around the farm looking at some pretty flowers and the farm animals and came home to munch on these sweet treats .What did I do with the rest of the strawberries you ask? I made a batch of strawberry syrup! Yumm!! What do you like to do when you get the freshly picked strawberries?
