Instant Carom seeds Water (or Kashaaya) for better digestion in babies/kids

Oma water is a beneficial home remedy for indigestion, especially in babies and young children. Milk is the main source of food for babies and toddlers and with that comes various tummy troubles like excessive gas and indigestion. The little ones are unable to eat which sometimes leads to colic. Giving oma water to your child on a weekly basis will help improve the digestion and clear out the bad stuff. I have been giving this to my daughter since she was a month old.

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons carrom seeds (oma)

2 cups of water

For babies (under 12 months):

1/2 teaspoon carrom seeds

3/4th to 1 cup of water

Preparation:

Dry roast carom seeds for a minute or until they splutter and brown spots appear. Make sure they don’t turn black.

Now add water and let it boil for 10 minutes or until it has been reduced to half.

Strain the liquid using a strainer or a muslin cloth.

Let it cool for about 5 to 10 minutes.

Serve warm.

SERVING SIZE:

For babies/Toddlers: 1- 2 tablespoons. Limit the quantity to 1 tablespoon or less, for babies under the age of 6 months. Please do not overdose.You can gradually increase the quantity as they grow.

Children 3 years+ :  2 tablespoons-  1/4th cup  depending on your child’s age.

Adults : 1/2 cup
